Echinacea is a perennial flowering herb native to Midwestern North America, although it grows well in the UK and North European climates too. Of the nine different echinacea species, Echinacea Angustifolia, Echinacea Purpurea, and Echinacea Pallida are the most commonly in traditional herbal medicine practices, where the whole plant including the root is used in the preparation of supplements. Historically, echinacea has been
used by the American Indians for more illnesses than any other plant.
